Join Luke Dollar and His Team in Madagascar

Remember reading in the spring issue of Dukenvironment about graduate student Luke Dollar’s adventures in Madagascar? Well, here’s your chance to accompany him on a trip vicariously. During the summer and continuing through this fall, Dollar and his research team have been keeping an online journal complete with photos from their treks through fosse country. Join them online.

Sarah Cawley inspired her third grade classmates in New Jersey to put all their quarters together to send $85.50 to Dollar for a reforestation project in Madagascar. The money raised by Mrs. Baumgarten’s class at Cedar Mountain Primary School in Vernon, N.J., will plant 171 trees in the a forest called Ankaratra, near the town of Ambatolampy. Before school ended in June the children collected an additional $40. To read more about their project, go to Luke's June 16th dispatch.
