Beaufort Experience Weekend a Hit
More
than 80 Annual Fund Gift Club members and their families gathered
at the Duke Marine Lab this summer for the third annual Beaufort
Experience Weekend at the end of July.
Guests examined beach erosion on Cape Lookout with Brad Murray,
assistant professor of geomorphology and coastal processes,
discussed the life cycle of blue crabs with student Bronwyn
Llewellyn on Carrot Island, and received an update on the
latest sea turtle research from Larry Crowder, Stephen Toth
Professor of Marine Biology. Children enjoyed a “Friends
of Nemo” tour guided by Jessica Maher CEM’03 and
marine arts, crafts and literature led by Judy Crowder. The
next Beaufort Experience Weekend for Nicholas School Gift
Club members will be July 23-25, 2004.
