K. Orbach assumed the presidency of the Southern
Association of Marine Laboratories on Jan. 1. SAML is an association
of more than 100 state, federal and academic marine laboratories
located from the Chesapeake Bay to Texas, including Bermuda,
Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Martin
D. Smith, assistant professor of environmental
economics, has been appointed associate editor for the journal
Marine Resource Economics. The two-year term began summer
2004.
