R/V Melville

Last night the Red Shift, Carrie Donnelly, Jenny McGuire, and Betsy Williams, completed a very successful dredge with the help of Emily Klein. It contained about 40 lbs of rocks from along the incipient ridge. This morning, Breakfast Club performed a wax core and began a camera tow (see photos). The camera tow provided 4 hours worth of photographs taken every fifteen seconds from along the ocean floor. We are currently launching the forth dredge of the trip out of approximately forty expected dredges. It looks as though we’re going to get a lot of excellent material for analysis. In other news, Jay Erickson and (silent) Bob Seeley continue to provide succulent meals including stuffed pork chops, tenderloin, chicken santiago, thai curry shrimp, duck, and a large variety of other meals (see photo).
