R/V Melville

After a morning and afternoon re-fueling in San Diego port and fixing last minute problems, we finally got underway at about 5 pm and began our long transit to the south. Many of us stood on the bow and watched as the land receded from view. It was a beautiful sunset and the weather was balmy. All are anxious to get to our study area (in about a week) and begin work.
