R/V Melville
This will be our last update, as it was our last day at sea. By the time the sun rises
in the morning, we will be in sight of land for the first time since passing Isla Benedicto, on our outward transit. After morning rain
we had one of the clearest, hottest day we’ve had in weeks, and this evening we could see stars and lighting from a storm on the horizon,
all after a beautiful sunset. Many of us will miss this life at sea, but I think we all are also looking forward to land, and home. We are
also looking forward to the party we’re having the night after we reach port, where Debbie and Emily will be hosting the science party and
ship’s crew at a local restaurant. Our journey has been a great success, and a lot of fun. Many thanks to Debbie and Emily for assembling
such a fun and hardworking group of people, and to all the crew aboard the Melville who have made the cruise so much fun. The End. By,
Carrie Donnelly and Jenny McGuire
