My research focuses on understanding trophic dynamics of pelagic ecosystems specifically how they set up and break down relative to oceanographic features. I use high-resolution acoustics to measure pelagic fish and zooplankton distributions and how they change over time and across spatial scales. I also am interested in how prey distribution effects foraging behaviors of top predators especially in the density and abundance thresholds of prey that are necessary for efficient foraging. More broadly, quantifying trophic relationships is a critical step towards understanding and managing for species interactions and ecosystem change.
