The MP Draft Deadline is Approaching!

by brandon last modified 2008-02-12 14:25

We all know the date.

Time is flying by as the first MP draft deadline is within the month.  Second years are trying their best to avoid the topic of conversation, myself included.  As mentioned in an earlier post, there are two pieces to my MP.  A business plan for the National Seashore I worked at this Summer and the implementation of one of the many recommendations; the start-up of an organization (nonprofit) that serves the National Seashore in meeting its mission.

I traveled back to Assateague a couple of weekends ago to announce the formation of the organization to a group of about 150 people attending a new visitor center groundbreaking ceremony for the National Seashore.  I met many of the local non-profit Executive Directors, the honorable and former Senator Sarbanes, as well as the current Senator of Maryland, Benjamin Cardin.  Everyone was excited about the start-up of this organization.

We are finalizing the IRS application for 501(c)(3) status and hope to be certified by mid-2008.  Otherwise, in addition to Board Meetings, the development of a three year strategic plan is the next initiative.
