The Nonprofit Startup - Moving Forward
As the semester wraps up, my master’s project has been progressing well.
Over the last two months, a Founding Board of Director’s has been established, and an Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and a Mission Statement have been drafted. As the Board finalizes these important documents that serve to define the organization and its vision, the most important yet difficult has been coming up with a good name. After several weeks of brainstorming with the community and National Park Service, the combined effort has resulted in “Assateague National Seashore Alliance”. The entrepreneurial spirit has always been a part of my life and it is exciting to see the initial steps of building an organization realized. Next steps are working with the Board on a strategic plan that focuses on earned income opportunities, a membership development program, and preparing to file for 501(c)(3) status.
