The rain continues to fall, but there is a bright spot: the Laysan albatross egg we have been watching finally hatches. We name him Moli.

Today we finished our clean up along the south end of Sand Island, picking up 20 more bags of trash, and we examined the stomach contents of dead albatrosses. In Bird #3, we found more than 120 pieces of trash.

After a short 10-minute ride outside the harbor in a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Boat, we came across a group of about 25 spinner dolphins.

The albatross "clack" at us as we work our way along Midway's restricted beaches picking up as many as 30 or 40 bags of trash that otherwise might wind up being eaten by unsuspecting wildlife.

From the top of this incredible volcano crater you can see the development on the south side of Oahu. Later we hike to Kaena Point on the northwestern tip of Oahu and take in an amazing wilderness.
