Krispy Kreme Challenge!

by mike last modified 2008-02-01 08:25

Run 2 miles, eat 12 hot Krispy Kreme glazed donuts...and run 2 more miles

This past Saturday, the 26th, a bunch of Nick Schoolers got together to compete in the 3rd Annual Krispy Kreme KK2 Challenge in Raleigh, a benefit for the NC Children's Hospital that has grown from 150 participants in 2006 to more than 3200 this year. Krispy Kreme donuts are from nearby Winston-Salem, so it's a local event.

Here's this year's YouTube video trailer: 2008 Krispy Kreme Challenge

I attempted to train for the race -- the eating part -- a week beforehand and could no way get past donut #8, so I was pretty nervous about completing "the Challenge" of doing the whole thing in under an hour. I failed -- but somehow did get all 12 down in the race although it took close to 40 minutes, by far the slowest in the Nick School group! There was no vomiting though, so I have to count it as a success.KK3

Pretty fun event -- but too gross to do twice! Many thanks to Amanda Hartford and Zach Eyler for the great pix!
