Karen has over 25 years experience in career services and began her 20th year as the leader of Nicholas School career services in June 2009.
Karen has been recognized as one of North America’s most outstanding environmental and natural resources career counselors during the 20th Century and as the Southeastern Environmental Career Counselor of the Year.
When asked what she enjoys most about her work at the Nicholas School, Karen is quick to answer "with the start of my 20th year my answer remains the same--interacting with such bright and passionate students, staying connected to the alumni, and working with employers to facilitate internship and permanent job opportunities for students and graduates. I feel so lucky to have such a great job!”
Duke Basketball's number one fan, Karen is a former high school athletic director, coach and physical education teacher. She enjoys outdoor activities and is an avid golfer, shooting sports enthusiast and enjoys surf fishing. She and her husband live "among the trees" in rural Orange County with Chief, their Llewellyn Setter.
