Saskia N. Clay-Rooks, Senior Career Specialist

Saskia recently joined the Nicholas School to provide career advising and support to students seeking to establish their professional brand through employer correspondence and various social media outlets. She designs and delivers workshops, reviews resumes/cover letters, offers interviewing assistance and partners with students in the process of securing internships/jobs. Previously Saskia worked at the University of Virginia in career services where she received an Innovation Excellence Award from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) for a conference she created. She began her career in admission at her alma mater, William & Mary.

Mrs. Clay-Rooks has a Master of Education degree in Social Foundations and Bachelor of Arts degree in Black Studies. The students with whom she works find her to be warm, practical and resourceful. Saskia is guided by the motto: If you want something you’ve never had before, you must do something you’ve never done before.

In her personal time, she enjoys reading, eating out and traveling with her husband.  Her life goals include visiting the Seven Wonders of the World,  learning to drive a motorcycle and becoming a good cook.
