2008 Internship Project Descriptions
The Nature Conservancy - North Carolina
The Nature Conservancy's mission is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.
The North Carolina Chapter of The Nature Conservancy (NCTNC) is seeking an intern to help build government support for programs and funding “to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.” Using both public and private funds, The Nature Conservancy has helped to preserve almost 700,000 acres in North Carolina alone since the late 1970s. The Government Relations program is responsible for strengthening public funding sources and securing new funds from the NC General Assembly and the US Congress. Interns will have a chance to interact with state and federal agency staff and legislators and work with chapter members and trustees, local communities, conservation organizations, and many others in securing funding and support for land conservation. http://nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/northcarolina/
