About the Children's Environmental Health InitiativeRichard Auten, MD featured at Duke for Current Research -- September 09, 2008 On August 5th, 2008 Dr. Richard Auten presented the Duke Pediatric Grand Rounds entitled: "Fetal and Neonatal Exposures: Asthma and Emphysema" to the Duke University Medical School community. Also, on September 30, 2008 Dr. Auten will present to the Duke Pulmonary Critical Care Fellow's Research Conference on "Fetal and Neonatal Origins of Adult Lung Disease". Dr. Auten is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Duke University Medical Center as well as a Principal Investigator and Co-Director of the Southern Center for Environmental Driven Disparities in Birth Outcomes at Duke University (SCEDDBO). Dr. Auten's research at SCEDDBO examines whether prenatal air pollution exposure provokes maternal/fetal humoral responses that impair fetal and postnatal growth and development. His work ties into the overall mission of SCEDDBO which is to determine how environmental, social, and host factors jointly contribute to health disparities. Links to Other Background Info: | ||
