About the Children's Environmental Health Initiative

High School Students Shadow CEHI Team -- June 19, 2008

The CEHI team welcomed Yvonne Socolar and Laura Haynes, two students from local high schools, to CEHI with an opportunity to shadow staff members throughout the week. Yvonne and Laura have been very active with CEHI. They've assisted with the Clinical Obstetrics study, visited patients at the Duke South Clinic with recruiting members, learned about maps and spatial analysis with GIS analysts, and collected built environment data with the CEHI Field Team. Both have described the experience as an exciting learning opportunity and plan to take the skills they've learned back to the classroom. Yvonne and Laura also committed to volunteer with the Field Team this coming weekend to take part in data collection for the Social Activities Assessment study.
