CEHI at 2008 Joint Statistical Meetings -- August 18, 2008

Members of the CEHI team recently attended JSM 2008 in Denver, Colorado. JSM is the largest gathering of statisicians in North America -- this year's conference attracted about 5,000 statisticians and participants. From CEHI, Simone Gray, Scott Schwartz, and Veronica Berrocal contributed and presented their individual work to different sections at the meeting.

Simone Gray presented her study The Effect of PM Exposure on Birth Weight. Scott Schwartz spoke about his study Joint Modeling of Birth Weight and Gestational Age. And Veronica Berrocal contributed her work A Bayesian Spatial Model to Downscale Outputs from Numerical Models to the Spatial and Space-Time Models and Applications section.

Also of relevance to CEHI's work, Yale University's Michelle Bell was invited to JSM to present The Association Between Short-Term Exposure to Ozone and Risk of Mortality in the United States.
