Two SCEDDBO Abstracts Accepted at the 2008 Meeting of the American Society for Human Genetics -- September 09, 2008

Researchers in the Southern Center for Environmentally Driven Disparities in Birth Outcomes (SCEDDBO) have had two abstracts accepted for poster presentation at the 2008 Meeting of the American Society for Human Genetics. The meeting will be held from November 11-15 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

"Vitamin D receptor (VDR) is associated with birthweight among African American mothers" and "MBO genetic variation is associated with birthweight, particularly among African American women" represent research from the Healthy Pregnancy, Health Baby Study, a research project in SCEDDBO. This study is a prospective cohort of pregnant women aimed at identifying genetic, social and environmental contributors to disparities in pregnancy outcomes among women in the US South.
