We'll be here from March 7-10

In addition to exploring the city, while in Santiago we will be traversing the city to meet with the US Embassy, the Chilean Department of the Environment, Arauco, Fundacion Terram, President of Chile Michelle Bachelet, Larrain Vial, former Chilean President Dr. Ricardo Lagos, and Colbun. The Duke Alumni Association and AmCham Chile is hosting a Duke Alumni dinner for Duke Alumni in Chile and local business leaders.

Red Marker Cascadas de las Animas
Casilla 57, San José de Maipo - Chile -- we travel here on March 10-12

Cascadas de las Animas is 60 km southeast of Santiago toward the Andes Mountains in Cajón del Maipo (Maipo Canyon). Cascada de las Animas is an eco-tourism resort owned and operated by Astorga-Moreno family and has been in operation since 1840. While at Cascada de las Animas, we will meet with representatives of Fundacion Terram to discuss the salmon aquaculture industry. While at Cascada de las Animas we will enjoy activities such as zip-lining across the Maipo River, whitewater rafting the Rio Maipo, trekking through their 10,000 acre private Nature Sanctuary and in the Cordillera de los Andes, or horseback riding through the Andes Mountains.

Concha y Toro Winery is located at the foot of the Andes and is Latin America’s major wine exporter. We will learn about the history and business of wine-making in Chile, along with how Concha y Toro incorporates sustainable business practices into their business.

Red Marker Forestal Mininco
9 1/2 Oriente # 1482 Talca - March 13

Forestal Mininco is three hours south of Santiago in Talca. Mininco belongs to the CMPC holding, one of the most important industrial and forest groups of Chile and Latin America. Operations include foresting development, conservation sawmill and remanufacturing industry, and cellulose plants.

Red Marker David del Curto S.A. CENTRAL FRUTICOLA PAINE
Km. 41 Panamericana Sur -- March 13

Since 1950, David del Curto has become a leader in fresh fruit exports. The plant we will be visiting is south of Santiago. The plant stores pears, apples, kiwi, and garlic in a state-of-the-art cooling operation.
