Admission
to the graduate program is open to any college graduate, although those
with a background in the sciences or engineering will receive strong preference.
Students must complete the requirements of the individual department in
which they are housed: Civil & Environmental Engineering, Earth Science,
Mathematics or the Nicholas School of the Environment.
The Certificate in Hydrology is offered to those students who have taken hydrology related courses and whose dissertation has a hydrology emphasis. There is no language requirement. For further specifics on degree requirements, please see the current Duke University Graduate School Bulletin. The official closing date for applications for fall admission is December 31, but applications are accepted throughout the academic year. When requesting and completing an application, please indicate the department in which you wish to enroll and note hydrology as your specialization. Visits to Duke University are strongly encouraged and can be arranged through any participating faculty member. Financial awards are available from a number of sources, including fellowships offered by the Center, research assistantships offered by participating faculty and teaching assistantships offered by departments. Summer support is arranged through research projects. Announcements of financial awards will be made on or before April 1. |
