Life in the Triangle Duke University is located in Durham, N.C., and is a part of the rapidly growing Triangle area that includes nearby Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Research Triangle Park. With a population of nearly 200,000, Durham is located in a metropolitan area with more than 800,000 residents. The Triangle offers rich and diverse educational, cultural and recreational opportunities, including more than 100,000 acres of hardwood and evergreen forests. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University in Raleigh are located within 30 minutes of the Duke campus and Duke students can readily access all university libraries in the Research Triangle.
