Campus Information & Directions

Duke University is located in Durham, N.C., halfway between the state’s mountains and its coast. Where Durham was once a tobacco town, it is now one part of the Research Triangle -- along with Raleigh and Chapel Hill -- a center for excellence in medicine, education, research and technology.

Directions

FROM THE EAST
Take I-40 West toward Durham. Take Exit 279B (NC147 North/Durham Freeway) into the city. After going through downtown Durham, exit at Fulton Street. Go under the highway and take a left at the stoplight. Take a right on Erwin Road. Take a left onto Research Drive. (These distances are all very short - less than 1/4 mile). We are located in Wing A of the Levine Science Research Center, the long ivory-colored building on your right.

FROM THE WEST
Take I-85 North into Durham. Get off at Exit 170 (NC751/Duke University). At stoplight, take a right onto 751 South. Go several miles through Duke Forest. Go through the intersection with US 15-501 and turn left onto Erwin Road. Proceed to the third stoplight and turn right onto Research Drive. We are located in Wing A of the Levine Science Research Center, the long ivory-colored building on your right.

FROM THE NORTH
Take I-85 South into Durham. After passing the Hillandale Road sign, get in the left lane and watch for a split in the highway. Exit I-85 by taking the US15-501 Bypass towards Chapel Hill. Exit at the NC751/Duke University sign. At the stoplight, take a left onto Cameron Boulevard. Go to the second stoplight and turn left onto Erwin Road. Proceed to the third stoplight and turn right onto Research Drive. We are located in Wing A of the Levine Science Research Center, the long ivory-colored building on your right.

FROM THE SOUTH
Take I-85 North into Durham. Get off at Exit 170 (NC751/Duke University). At stoplight, take a right onto 751 South. Go several miles through Duke Forest. FROM RALEIGH-DURHAM AIRPORT
Take airport exit, continuing to intersection with I-40. Take I-40 West toward Durham. Take Exit 279B (NC147 North/Durham Freeway) into the city. Please note: Parking on campus for visitors is very limited. A parking garage is located next to the Bryan University Center on Science Drive, and metered parking is located throughout campus. Any individual who parks in a pay station lot or at a meter must pay the appropriate fee for the time their vehicle is parked. Rates, maximum time allowed and hours of operation are displayed on each meter and pay station.
