Student Registration Information and Procedures

Kellogg Conference Hotel at Gallaudet University
Washington, D.C.

Looking for an opportunity to meet employers? Join us on February 5. The Fair has something for all our students!

The Fair is an event that brings together students from the top two environmental schools and provides a forum for students to participate in informational interviews with a variety of organizations representing government, consulting, nonprofit conservation, and business.

Interact and network! The informational interview setting allows you to discuss career paths, skills necessary to work with their organization or in a particular career field, and the availability of internship and permanent employment positions.

About the Recruiting Fair:

Each organization will conduct 30-minute, scheduled informational interview sessions throughout the day. Students could have has many as 10 interviews in one day! In the past students averaged 5-6 interviews during the Fair.

In addition to scheduled interviews, students have three additional opportunities to talk informally with employers during the Fair:

Information Booths: Some organizations prefer to meet with students in a more traditional job fair format, where students come by their table and talk with them informally. BRING YOUR RESUME!

Lunch with employers: Students are invited to join the employers for the buffet lunch. Lunch reservations must be made prior to the event and is handled by the respective career services' offices. Student cost will be between 15.00 and 18.00.

Employer/Student Reception: A great way to cap off of a terrific day! Opportunity for Duke & Yale students to get better acquainted with one another and with employers.

Organizations are currently registering to participate in the 2010 Duke/Yale Environmental Recruiting Fair, and we will continue to receive registrations throughout the coming weeks. General Interview Sign-up Procedures

Students must sign-up for interviews prior to the event. Interview sign-ups for the 2010 Duke/Yale Recruiting Fair will begin January 14, 2010. The following information provides an overview of the student registration process. Please read carefully.

Review organizational information on the Duke/Yale Recruiting Fair web site to determine the organizations that you want to target for interviews. Be sure to check the top of the sign-up sheet to see if the employer is looking for summer interns or permanent hires!

As this recruiting fair is a joint effort between Duke and Yale, each school has a designated number of interview slots (2 or 3) for every 30-minute time period. Duke and Yale have equal slots per employer.

Pre-Select Interviews Open!
There are a limited number of pre-select interviews. Students will be asked to submit a resume in advance for consideration, and if selected, will be interviewed individually at the fair. The final deadline for all of the pre-select applications is DATE TBD. Some of the deadlines will be earlier.

Log in to your Duke/Yale Fair Account now to see the available pre-select interview opportunities and look for emails announcing new pre-select interview opportunities.

Drop/add: There is a very efficient drop/add procedure the day of the fair that allows students to monitor open slots with employers that were full prior to the event. Many students who were not on the first interview schedule are able to arrange an interview time through the drop/add process.

We will continue to receive registrations throughout the coming weeks. To stay informed regarding organizations participating and their recruiting needs in this year's fair, go directly to the Duke/Yale Environmental Recruiting Fair website: http://www.nicholas.duke.edu/duke_Yale_fair.

Additional Preparation for Recruiting Fair: Both schools will present preparation workshops for all Recruiting Fair student participants prior to the event (date and time info announced later). Guidelines for career fair etiquette, informational interviewing tips, drop/add advice, and how to maximize your time with employers will be provided. Watch for details via e-mail.
