Christensen Endowment
Typically, Duke honors departing deans with a named professorship
for their distinguished work and service. However, the Nicholas
School's Board of Visitors felt so strongly about the devotion
of Norman
L. "Norm" Christensen to students that they decided
a scholarship endowment would be a more meaningful way to
honor him. Christensen stepped down from the deanship in June
to return to teaching. To date, more than $968,000 in pledges
and matching funds have been raised toward the $1 million
goal. "We intend for the Christensen Endowment to be the Nicholas
School equivalent of the University's Angier B. Duke Scholarships,
a very prestigious full fellowship for the school's best and
brightest professional students." said Sally S. Kleberg, WC'66,
chair of the Nicholas School's capital campaign committee.
Once fully funded, the endowment will provide full support
to a Nicholas School graduate student of distinction.
The Nicholas School wishes to thank the following donors
who recently supported the Christensen Endowment in honor
of former dean, Norman L. Christensen, Jr.
