Special Opportunities for Gift Club Members
Gift
Club members provide the highest level of unrestricted support
to the school. In return, the school provides a number of
opportunities for Gift Club members to go "behind the scenes"
for a firsthand look at the programs their gifts make possible.
This summer, the school inaugurated a new tradition - the
Beaufort Experience Weekend - for Gift Club members. Members
and their families were invited to spend July 20-22 at the
Duke University Marine Laboratory in Beaufort exploring Pamlico
Sound and learning about advances in marine conservation biology
from the Marine Lab's distinguished faculty. (See story on
page 18.) For an invitation to the Beaufort Experience Weekend
2002, join one of the Gift Clubs listed to the right and mark
your calendar for July 19-21, 2002. Educational activities
will once again be available for family members of all ages.
A second educational event is available to members of the
William Preston Few Association. Members of the William Preston
Few Association will gather in Washington, D.C. in May for
a special lecture and dinner. To receive an invitation, join
the William Preston Few Association before May 1.

Heintzelman to Lead Annual Fund
Richard "Dick" Heintzelman MF'69 will succeed Bartow "Bo"
Shaw F'64 as the Nicholas School's representative to Duke
University's Annual Fund Executive Committee. "Dick Heintzelman
is the perfect choice for this committee," said Bo Shaw, former
chairman of the Annual Fund. "He knows the school as a student,
an alumnus, a parent, a former president of the Alumni Council
and a member of the school's Board of Visitors. I predict
great things for the Annual Fund under his leadership and
know that he will enjoy the camaraderie and great collaboration
of this universitywide group." Shaw represented the school
on the Executive Committee from 1992-2001.
