First Annual Beaufort Experience Weekend a Success

The Duke University Marine Laboratory held its first annual Beaufort Experience Weekend in July for Annual Fund Gift Club members. Members and their families gathered at the Pivers Island campus in Beaufort, N.C., for a series of educational and social events with faculty and staff that included field trips, tours and an old-fashioned clambake. A highlight of the three-day event was an expedition with Daniel Rittschof, associate professor of zoology, to return tagged blue crabs to their home in the sound.

Mark your calendars for next year's weekend, which will take place on July 19-21. A gift of $500 or more to the Marine Laboratory or Nicholas School qualifies for membership in a Gift Club and ensures your invitation. For more information on the Beaufort Experience Weekend, contact Belinda Williford at bbw@duke.edu or (252) 504-7508.
