Research Interests:
I look at how water in the Labrador Sea spreads out into other parts of the North Atlantic Ocean. The fundamental problems concern finding out how Labrador Sea Water enters the Deep Western Boundary Current, isolating the timescales of the fluctuations of this process, and determining if climatological forcing has an impact on the timescales. I use data from ocean circulation models to simulate the trajectories of water parcels and I look
forward to comparing these simulated trajectories to floats' paths in the real ocean. Ocean eddies have a significant impact on the large scale movement of water and I find it particularily fascinating that there can be some larger scale order developing in conjunction with turbulence.
