Duke alumna Mandy Schmitt MEM '05 kicks off our new video series.
Since February 2008, Schmitt has been the sustainability director for the City of Atlanta.
There’s a lot of work to be done between now and 2010 when her tenure is up. Among other goals, Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin hopes that making the city more sustainable will help rack up enough savings to fund a full-time executive position. (Schmitt is a loaned executive.) If the past is any indication, Schmitt will cover a great deal of green ground—which will provide the green to fund it.
Find out what she's doing to green the city and live a more sustainable life.
