Blog from 2008 Democratic National Convention
Join Nicholas student Betsy Albright as she travels to Denver as one of North Carolina's elected delegates to the Democratic National Convention
Final Blog Entry
I’m back in Durham, exhausted and with a suitcase full of clothes that should be dry cleaned (Did the convention calculate THAT into its environmental footprint???).
Cool Environmental Stuff
Thursday morning, before the North Carolina delegation headed to Mile High Stadium for the convention’s final day, I wandered around Downtown Denver to check out what’s going on outside the convention hall.
From the Convention Floor
It’s been a long and busy day, but right now, the atmosphere inside the convention hall is electric. All of the delegates were sent a text earlier telling us to get to the Pepsi Center ASAP for the roll-call vote....
A Busy First Day
Wow. That one word really sums it up. The ability to hear so many of our nation’s top elected officials in one day is nothing less than an incredible honor, really something that I’ll never forget.
I've arrived
Sunday Night. I’m in Denver where the chill of the humidity-free mountain air provides a much needed break from a sweaty summer in Durham. I’ll be headed to bed shortly so I can wake up at the crack of dawn to make it to breakfast with all the other North Carolina delegates
The Countdown Has Begun
The countdown to the Democratic Convention has begun—two weeks from today it kicks off. Back in June, I was elected at the North Carolina State Democratic Convention to be one of the state-wide delegates pledged to Obama at the National Democratic Convention.
The opinions expressed in this blog are those of a Nicholas School student who has agreed to post reports about her activities and impressions as a delegate at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. The blogs are being posted on the Nicholas School site for educational purposes only. The school does not endorse political platforms, parties or candidates. We would welcome blogs from any student, staff member or faculty member who plans to attend the upcoming Republican National Convention.
