Hosterman
Heather Hosterman joined the Nicholas Institute as a Junior Fellow in July 2008. At the Institute, her work is focused on climate and water policy. She is working with Duke University’s Sustainability Office to examine the role of carbon offsets in meeting the University’s commitment to carbon neutrality. In that role, she is currently providing support to the carbon offset initiative in its mission to catalyze high integrity carbon offset projects in the Carolinas. Heather is also working with the international water team on water and adaptation, with a focus on South Asia and climate change adaptation funding.
Prior to the Nicholas Institute, Heather served as an intern to The Nature Conservancy and the Willamette Partnership where she coordinated a working group of conservation practitioners to discuss the structure of an ecosystem marketplace in Oregon’s Willamette Basin. She also worked in Mexico to develop and facilitate workshops in water and sanitation, health, and community development for clients of a microcredit and savings organization. Heather holds a Masters of Environmental Management from Duke University, a B.A in Policy and a B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
