Videoconferencing

by it last modified 2009-08-24 12:16

Videoconferencing is available between Durham and the Marine Lab in Beaufort via any active network connection. Other locations may require other arrangements. Please allow a minimum of two weeks for setting up and testing any videoconference with any outside organization.

Videoconferences between the Durham and Beaufort locations of the Nicholas School can be complicated to arrange as equipment and rooms need to be reserved at all participating locations. You will need to contact staff in both Beaufort and Durham to make arrangements.

It is possible to videoconference scheduled classes between Durham and Beaufort. Interested students and faculty should contact IT as early in the semester as possible to make these arrangements. Requirements differ slightly in that in addition to securing a location, someone from the class in both locations must also take responsibility, after training, for setting up, breaking down and returning the equipment.

Before planning a videoconference (VTC) with Nicholas School IT, you should review the following guidelines:

In Beaufort
Room reservation requests for which audio/visual equipment is also required should be directed to Dominick Brugnolotti (252-504-7652). Dominick will identify possible dates, appropriate rooms available and e-mail the equipment request to Marine Lab IT. Marine Lab IT will reserve the equipment and email a confirmation to Dominick or notify Dominick that the requested equipment is unavailable and identify some possible alternative dates/times. Dominick will contact the client to confirm their room/equipment requests or will further explore with the client alternative dates/times.

See the DUML Room Equipment Questionnaire for information required for equipment reservations.
