Duke Student Video Contest
Honoring Robert Redford’s Commitment to Art and the Environment
Actor, director and environmentalist Robert Redford will receive the inaugural Duke LEAF Award, for lifetime environmental achievement in the fine arts. The award will be presented to Redford April 18 at 2:30 in Duke University’s Page Auditorium. The Duke LEAF award recognizes the important role of the artist in advancing a national and international environmental agenda.
SCOPE OF PROJECT
Duke’s Nicholas School of the Environment invites all students to create a one-minute video making a creative case for the role of the artist in inspiring others to work for a more sustainable future. The videos will be viewed and judged by a faculty panel.
The top three videos will be shown during the award ceremony honoring Mr. Redford on April 18. The student who is chosen by a faculty panel as the best of the three will get to meet Mr. Redford at a reception following the ceremony and will receive a check for $1,000.
PARAMATERS
Films must be created by full-time, enrolled undergraduate or graduate Duke University students with no assistance from professional non-faculty resources. The film must be submitted in NTSC version HD or SD DVD format and must be no longer than 60 seconds.
RESOURCES
A selection of movies that Mr. Redford starred in, directed and/or produced are on reserve at the Lilly Library. A limited quantity of flip cameras is available to be checked out from the Nicholas School of the Environment’s Office of Marketing and Communications. Please email donna.sell@duke.edu for information about borrowing a flip camera.
DEADLINE/ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
DVDs must be submitted by Wednesday, April 8. Creators of the top three videos will be notified the week of April 13. For more information or to submit DVDs please contact:
