Who is eligible for acceptance?
All Duke students in good standing are accepted. Students should check individual course prerequisites. Anyone who does not
meet the prerequisites should talk with the Marine
Lab Admissions Office before enrolling.
May non-science majors apply?
Yes. The Duke Marine Lab is an excellent place for non-science majors to fulfill
their science requirements.
How do I enroll?
All Duke students in good standing are automatically accepted to at the Duke Marine Lab. Email ml_admissions@nicholas.duke.edu to enroll. Non-Duke students need to submit an enrollment form to the
Duke Marine Lab Admissions Office.
Where can I get an enrollment form?
An application can be found online.
What are the deadlines for applying?
Enrollment forms should be received by December 1 for spring semester,
by April 1 for fall semester and one month before each summer session. Enrollment forms will be accepted after these deadlines if space is still available. Please check the financial aid sections of our website for fall, spring, and summer financial aid deadlines.
Is financial aid available?
Tuition scholarships, Bookhout Research Scholarships, Summer Plus Tuition Scholarships, and Global Fellowships
in Marine Conservation are available for summer only. See financial
assistance for more information.
What are the course prerequisites?
Course prerequisites are included in all course descriptions.
Will the credits transfer to my university?
Yes, if your home institution approves. Non-laboratory and laboratory
(L) courses are worth 3 and 4 hours of credit, respectively.
