Cruise Preparation | Port
change-overs
If a change of scientific party is to take place
during an in-port period, the off-going party
should expedite its offloading and make room as
soon as possible for the new group. In general,
berth and laboratory space should be made available
to the new group by noon on the first day in port.
An embarkation/debarkation schedule indicating
the exact times the scientific party is to board
and leave the vessel will be mailed to each Chief
Scientist well in advance of the scheduled cruise.
You are reminded that it is the responsibility
of the off-going party to see that all laboratories
and living spaces are in a clean and orderly state,
and that proper arrangements are made for equipment
which will be left on board during the next leg.
When the off-going scientific party must live
ashore, expenses for these are its responsibility.
