R/V Cape Hatteras - Ship Specifications | Research instrumentation & technical support

There are charges for phone and e-mail messages both to and from the ship. All of these communication media use satellite services and are not free. E-mail messages are sent and received via the satellite email service Telaurus. A prepaid account will be set up on board the ship using a Credit/Debit Card. Messages are charged by size. The scientists can collect any remaining money on the account by contacting the email provider Telaurus. The money will be credited to the Credit Card.

 Differential GPS
 Loran C
 Gyrocompass Heading
 Air Temperature
 Barometric Pressure
 Relative Humidity
Wind Speed & Direction (RM Young anemometers, port & starboard)
Photosynthetically Active Radiation (QSR-2200 Scalar PAR Reference sensor- Biospherical Instruments)
Sea Surface Temperature (SeaBird SBE 21 Flow-Thru system w/ remote temp. sensor)
Sea Surface Salinity (SeaBird SBE 21)
Sea Surface Fluorescence (Turner Fluorometer with data as voltages)
