IMPORTANT! The vessel should NOT be contacted directly. Please contact the operations office at 252-504-7580 first. If after hours, contact the Marine Superintendent at 725-4636 (cellular). Messages will then be relayed to the vessel immediately for return calls.

Regular daily contact between the CAPE HATTERAS and ship operations is conducted through the use of a variety of communications equipment, usually at 0800 EST. The following is a list of communications forms available:

• Voice - (Contact the Marine Superintendent)
  - Cellular
  - Iridium satellite phone

• The CAPE HATTERAS can also be contacted by e-mail. Contact the Marine Superintendent for details.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL THESE FORMS OF COMMUNICATION ARE OF SIGNIFICANT EXPENSE AND WILL COST THE RECIPIENT OR CHIEF SCIENTIST, AND WILL BE BILLED AT THE END OF EACH CRUISE. SEE "RESEARCH INSTRUMENTATION AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT" FOR DETAILS.

Communication of computer data (text files, station positions, etc.) is possible via INMARSAT C. Contact the technical staff for more detailed information.
