Research Interests:

In my research, I will utilize underwater acoustics to examine fish distributions in hydrologically dynamic systems in relation to community structure. It is relatively easy to see seabirds and marine mammals foraging around a tidally-induced eddy system - I hope to examine the fish they may be eating. Also, larger than expected fish have been found in areas of hypoxia accompanied by the presence of many large predators. Acoustics can be used to examine whether these fish are present in extremely high abundance or whether the larger catch could be explained by other means, such as oxygen stress.

Bio:
I am particularly interested in the interaction between pelagic food webs and physical oceanography. I hope to understand how interspecific interactions are impacted by changes in oceanographic systems.

Hobbies:
If I'm not on the boat collecting data or in the office analyzing it, I can be difficult to find. First, check the soccer field, basketball court, tennis court, or some wooded place where I can hike in semi-solitude. I also enjoy photography and scuba diving which I would like to combine one day.
