The Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University
is one of the world's premier graduate research and professional
schools for the interdisciplinary study of the environment,
biological, physical and social sciences.
More than 50 faculty members hold primary or joint appointments in the school. While maintaining a broad
range of expertise, the school is developing particular areas of strength in the fields of global change,
ecosystem science (forest and wetlands), coastal ecosystem process, environmental health (response to toxic
