Nicholas Environmental Media Fellowships
The Nicholas Environmental Media Fellowship program is
an intensive, customized fellowship for U.S. journalists who want
to deepen their understanding of the environmental sciences and
policies shaping news today.
Offered by the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth
Sciences at Duke University, the program was launched in 2004
to provide reporters, producers or editors with the opportunity
for in-depth study, exploration and investigation away from newsroom
distractions and deadline pressures.
What makes a Nicholas Fellowship different?
Because we host only one Fellow at a time, we have the flexibility
to customize your stay to your individual interests and time constraints.
You can use your time on our Durham and Beaufort, N.C. campus
to gain insights into a wide range of environmental issues or
delve deeply into a single topic.
Whether you prefer a busy weeklong schedule of one-on-one interviews,
field trips, lab tours and workshops, or would benefit from a
longer, more loosely structured stay, including time for independent
study, we’ll tailor your time here to help you achieve your goals.
