New Additions!

It is so great to be back at Ankarafantsika National Park! I’m really proud of all the advances that have taken pace since last field season. The village women’s group, EZAKA, has completed their bungalows for ecotourism, the post-cyclone school reconstruction was finished months ago, there’s a new welcome center, new statues and artwork at the park entrance, hotel construction beginning nearby, and great advances in park management and administration. Most of these initiatives have been in the works since 2000, but we’ve seen the greatest advances made since Ankarafantsika was inaugurated as a National Park in 2003.
