Flooding
by Andrew Miller
June 30, 2005

A couple of days ago I decided to take advantage of one of the available bungalows for 24 hours. The main reason was so when I was back from the field the next day I could have a long and relaxing shower at my leisure and have a shave with a mirror over the sink. The other bonuses of the bungalows are a nice double bed and your very own flush toilet!

Bungalow

These bungalows are very nice indeed.

BedThe night went well and I arose in the morning ready to wash and put my contact lenses in. I reached for the tap and it came away in my hand, leaving a hole in the wall from which water was gushing. So picture this: There I am, virtually blind and butt naked, trying to stem the flow of water whilst trying to think what to do next. I found a towel and stuffed it into the hole, quickly threw on some shorts and my glasses and rushed to the refectoire for help. Luke and Pierrot ran up and Luke stuffed a candle in the hole, which stopped the water.

By the time we came back from the field repairs were well underway but my plans for a shave at the sink were well and truly scuppered.
