Grace and Mollie
by Grace Pease
July 17, 2005

Grace Pease, a homeschooler from Maine, and her mother Molly Nelson arrived in Ambodimanga today to visit camp and explore the park in hopes of seeing lots of wildlife. Grace has been working hard since she was six years old raising and selling crops on her family’s farm in order to travel to Madagascar. So far, she has had the opportunity to work with Paleontologist Dave Krause and his team in Berivotra. She and her mother enjoyed helping out at a visiting health and dental clinic sponsored by the Ankizy Fund, which was founded by Krause a few years ago in order to help families in the area in which he works. The Ankizy Fund has also built three schools in remote impoverished areas of the country. During her n! ine-week adventure, Grace hopes to visit Ankarana National Park to the North, and volunteer at the Tampolo forest station on the East Coast. Fundraising for both the Ankizy Fund and Tampolo have been a big focus of hers for fully half of her life!
