Finally to Morondava!
by Luke Dollar
July 22, 2005

We arrived in Morondava at 0230 today, staggered into a hotel, and slept a few hours before our 0900 meeting with ANGAP (the park service) this morning. Kirindy Mitea is only a 100 km drive away, but it is the most treacherous and risky part of the journey. Two huge rivers to ford, deep sand, and a dusty track that is a foot more narrow than the cars. The last time we drove in, we sank a car in one of those rivers. By tonight, I hope we’ll be to Belo sur Mer, a small fishing village that is our final launching point into Kirindy Mitea. Keep your fingers crossed!
