Chris
Golden
My name is Chris Golden and I just finished my undergraduate
degree in Environmental Conservation at Harvard College. This
upcoming year I will be returning to Madagascar for my 5th
time and will be studying bushmeat consumption and trade in
the Makira Forest, Northeast Madagascar. I prepared an honors
thesis on the sustainability of bushmeat hunting and the market
dynamics of the trade in bushmeat and its relevance to domesticated
meats. I have worked with Luke on two occasions studying the
fossa in Ankarafantsika National Park, and teaching environmental
education in nearby villages. Through my time spent in Madagascar,
I have become fluent in Malagasy and really enjoy working
at the interface of conservation and human development. I
was just recently at the IUCN global mammal assessment in
Antananarivo to determine the status of Madagascar’s mammals
(threatened, endangered, critically endangered, least concern).
Next year I will be working for Wildlife Conservation Society
before enrolling in a PhD program.
