Becky NicholsBecky Nichols

My name is Becky Nichols, and this fall I will be entering my second year of veterinary school at the University of Tennessee. I’m interested in pursuing a career in conservation or wildlife medicine, and I’m really looking forward to working with both Dr. Luke Dollar and Dr. Julie Pomerantz this summer. I’m really interested in seeing what a real conservation veterinarian actually does! This will be my first field research experience; up until now, my research has been limited to organic chemistry in the laboratory. In addition to assisting Luke Dollar with his research, I plan to look at Toxoplasmosis in the bait chickens. I’m also hoping to look for blood parasites in the Malagasy carnivores and perhaps bring some blood back to the US and do some PCR on the parasites we find. This is my first visit to Madagascar, and I’m really excited!
