Mary Ellen Rowe

Mary was born in the Boston area lives in Cambridge today. She worked for years in biotech, but a trip to Africa in 1991 broadened her focus from the lab bench to the entire world.

This interest later narrowed just a bit to all aspects of natural history. Earthwatch expeditions allowed her to indulge that hobby, and after 20 projects on six continents, she decided to join forces with this conservation/research initiative and make it a career. Mary is now an Expedition Coordinator, acting as liason between volunteers and principal investigators for 30 projects in Asia, Africa and North America.
