Deforestation

Nov. 29 - "Carbon Emissions from Tropical Deforestation: Science Meets Policy"

A seminar by Ruth DeFries, University of Maryland, Department of Geography and Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center.  De Fries was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2006 and, most recently, she has won a MacArthur Fellowship Award for 2007.

Her presentation will discuss scientific uncertainties in estimating deforestation emissions and new approaches to modeling carbon fluxes using a variety of remotely-sensed data inputs.
