Group - Scott LoarieConservation and management efforts are most successful when they are informed by a quantitative understanding of ecosystem processes. I am interested in bridging the gap between ecological data and managers in order to predict how management decisions will affect conservation goals.
In particular, I am interested in why species occur where they do and how their presence and abundance is influenced by human activity. I am currently working to understand elephant movement and resource selection in southern Africa to help guide the architecture of trans-frontier conservation areas.
