Fall 2009

Professional and Field Skills Modules

This schedule will be updated throughout the term, so keep checking here for the most current information. Unless stated otherwise, sign up for each module via the online form >

last updated July 21, 2009

Modules require significant advance preparation on the part of the presenters and staff, and space is limited, so if you register for a module, please make every effort to attend. If you register and are unable to attend, please email the Program Coordinator for Professional Studies 48 hours in advance of the module so that your space may be given to another student who would like to attend.

One session each of Graphical Design and Public Speaking are graduation requirements from the Nicholas School. Students are strongly encouraged to take both modules during their first year. Please do not register for more than one session of the same module. Information on obtaining a waiver for a required module is available here >

Might your research and/or MP require you to collect, organize, and analyze qualitative data, such as focus groups, interviews, open-ended survey questions, observation data, documents (media, email, letters), photographs, audio or video? If so, come to this module to see a demonstration of NVivo software, a qualitative data analysis tool that is available to students on some computers in the LSRC (in the annex). Charlotte Clark is a certified trainer in NVivo software and teaches qualitative research methods in the NSOE.
