Quantitative Course Suggestions for Duke, UNC, and NCSU
Here are some suggestions for quantitative courses that might be used to satisfy the quantitative minor. They are divided into the following categories: (1) Satisfy Statistics prerequisite, (2) No Statistics prerequisite, but may have other prerequisites, including Calculus, (3) Requires Statistics at the prerequisite level and sometimes other prerequisites, (4) Requires Statistics at the prerequisite level and some additional Regression (Environ 210 or ST512 at NCSU,) and (5) Other Tools Courses - check your program for what counts. Be sure to check with your own program for which courses count where; different programs have different quantitative requirements. As always, check on prerequisites and level of presentation, especially when choosing courses outside of the Nicholas School and Duke. And, be aware that many of these courses cover the same material, so don’t choose a combination of courses that is too redundant. This is certainly not an exhaustive list. Individual programs may have additional recommendations. Where possible, the semesters in which these courses are usually offered are listed; be sure to verify this for a particular semester since some courses are not offered every year. If you have suggestions for additional courses that should be on this list, or comments on courses you have taken, or if you need more information, contact the Office
of Professional Studies.
